The intricate pattern resembles the flowing Arabic script for which the species was named, and at this stage the Koran is one of the most jaw-dropping juvenile reef fish in existence.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eAs the fish matures over the course of 18 to 24 months, the juvenile pattern gradually fades and is replaced by the adult coloration — a softer mosaic of yellow-green scales, each outlined in blue, with electric blue accents along the fins and a yellow caudal fin. Both color phases are stunning in their own right, and watching the transformation unfold over time is one of the great rewards of keeping this species long-term.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eKorans are large, intelligent, and personality-driven angelfish that require serious space to thrive — a minimum of 180 gallons is recommended for juveniles, with 220+ gallons strongly preferred as they grow. They are classified as reef safe with caution, as adults will sample LPS corals, soft corals, zoanthids, and clam mantles, though juveniles are often less destructive while they're still developing. Diet should include a wide variety of foods — angelfish formulas with sponge content, mysis, brine, dried marine algae (nori), spirulina-enriched preparations, and quality marine pellets. Provide ample rockwork for hiding and grazing, strong flow, and pristine water quality.
