The Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus) is one of the most colorful and full-of-personality fish you can add to a saltwater system. Brilliant fire-red body with a jet-black mask running across the eyes and along the upper back, plus tufted "cirri" on the dorsal fin spines that give hawkfish their characteristic look. Bold, hardy, and impossible to miss in the tank.
True to their name, Flame Hawkfish perch on rockwork and coral branches like hawks scanning for prey, then dart out with sudden speed to snatch food from the water column. They're endlessly entertaining to watch — curious, intelligent, and quick to recognize their keeper at feeding time. One of the easiest "wow factor" fish for new and experienced reefers alike.
Reef safe with caution: Flame Hawkfish are generally safe with corals but will hunt small ornamental shrimp, hermit crabs, and small crustaceans. Not recommended for tanks with prized cleaner shrimp, sexy shrimp, or small inverts you want to keep. Safe with most fish their size or larger, but may harass smaller, more timid tankmates.
Hardy, disease-resistant, and one of the most beginner-friendly "personality fish" available. A long-time favorite for reef and FOWLR keepers.
At Ocean To You, every fish is quarantined and observed before sale. We don't sell sick fish.
