The Rock Flower Anemone (Phymanthus crucifer) is one of the most reef-safe and beginner-friendly anemones available in the hobby. Unlike Bubble Tips, Carpets, or other wandering anemones, Rock Flowers anchor themselves in one spot in the sand bed or rockwork crevice and stay put — making them safe for reef tanks without the risk of stinging neighboring corals or getting sucked into pumps.
Each Rock Flower features a distinctive ridged or bumpy tentacle texture and a striking oral disc that comes in a wide range of colors and patterns including red, orange, pink, purple, green, blue, and rainbow combinations. Color will be assorted — please note specific color requests in order notes and we will do our best to match availability. Every specimen is healthy, fully expanded, and feeding aggressively.
Place in medium lighting and low to medium indirect flow. Rock Flowers prefer to bury their foot in a sandy area or anchor between rocks — give them a few small pebbles or sandy crevice for foot attachment. Feed once or twice a week with mysis, brine shrimp, chopped seafood, or small pellets to support growth and coloration. They are mostly peaceful but their sting can affect small shrimp or fry that come into direct contact.
