The Firefish Goby (Nemateleotris magnifica) is one of the most popular and visually stunning nano reef fish in the hobby. With a pale cream-white body that transitions into a brilliant red-orange flame toward the tail, plus a tall, flowing dorsal fin it flicks like a signal flag, this little dartfish is pure personality in a peaceful package.
Firefish are reef-safe, peaceful, and perfect for beginners — they hover gracefully near rockwork and dart back to shelter when startled. They thrive in pairs or small groups in larger systems, but should be kept singly in smaller tanks unless added simultaneously. A tight-fitting lid is essential — Firefish are notorious jumpers.
