The Orange Leg Hermit Crab (Clibanarius digueti) is one of the hardiest and most reef-safe hermit crabs in the saltwater hobby. With bright orange legs that pop against the substrate and a peaceful, hardworking demeanor, this Pacific Mexico native is a clean-up crew staple — efficient, easy to keep, and far less aggressive than many other hermit varieties.
Orange Leg Hermits are excellent scavengers and algae grazers. They constantly patrol the sand bed and rockwork looking for uneaten food, detritus, and nuisance algae — including hair algae and cyanobacteria. Their smaller size and peaceful temperament make them ideal for nano tanks all the way up to large reef systems.
Reef safe with caution: While much more peaceful than larger hermits, they may occasionally swap shells with snails. Provide plenty of empty shells slightly larger than their current ones — well-supplied hermits leave snails alone.
At Ocean To You, every invertebrate is inspected and acclimated before sale. We don't sell sick livestock.
