The Orange Banded Prawn Goby (Amblyeleotris randalli), also known as Randall's Shrimp Goby, is one of the most photogenic and entertaining gobies in the saltwater hobby. Pearl-white body wrapped in five bold orange-red vertical bands, plus a tall sail-like dorsal fin with a striking black-and-orange eye spot that it flicks up when displaying or alarmed. Pure personality in a 3-inch package.
Like other prawn gobies, Randall's forms one of the most fascinating partnerships in the reef — a symbiotic bond with pistol shrimp. The shrimp digs and maintains an elaborate burrow while the goby stands guard at the entrance, watching for predators with its excellent eyesight. When danger approaches, the goby signals the shrimp with a flick of its tail, and both dive into the burrow together. A living relationship right in your tank.
Hardy, reef-safe, peaceful with most tankmates, and beginner-friendly. Best kept singly or as a confirmed mated pair — perfect for nano reefs and larger systems alike.
Important: A tight-fitting lid is essential. Prawn gobies are jumpers when startled.
At Ocean To You, every fish is quarantined and observed before sale. We don't sell sick fish.
